History
The Hotel Río de Luna of 222 rooms was build in 1991 for the development of the tourism at the north coast of Holguín and with the objective to create new hotel services in Playa Esmeralda.
In 1995 was inagurated the Hotel Sol Río de Mares with 242 rooms to increase the hotel capacities in the tourist pole of Holguín.
At 1996 the corporation Gaviota S.A. signed administration agreements and commercialization with Sol Melía directed to operate the hotels Río de Luna and Sol Río de Mares in Playa Esmeralda.
At ends of the same 1996 Sol Melía comprises these two adjoining hotels in a classy resort denominated Hotel Sol Río de Luna y Mares Resort, 4 Stars, under the formula of "All Inclusive.".
